In preparation for the holiday season, The Woodlands holds their annual Rum Cake Sale starting in October and running through December. The Rum Cake Sale was founded in 2004 by Dr. Kamthorn Sukarochana, or “Dr. Kam” as he is known by friends and Woodlands colleagues.
After retiring from a long and successful career as a pediatric surgeon, Dr. Kam enrolled in the International Culinary Academy in Downtown Pittsburgh. His cooking talents inspired the charitable Rum Cake Sale, which has grown in popularity locally and nationally since its inception 11 years ago. What began as a small 34-cake operation has now expanded and has raised over $50,000 for The Woodlands programs. Shipping is available nationwide.
