This camp is an extension of the Notes from the Heart Music Program at the Woodlands, providing participants 19 and older with strong musical interest and abilities the opportunity to expand their passion for music to the next level. Participants will engage in daily courses including music appreciation taught by Edward Cumming (Director of Orchestral Activities and Associate Professor of Music at the Hartt School) and choral instruction taught by Allison Fromm (Director, Joyful Noise), as well as have the opportunity to concentrate on specific areas of interest, including individual and small group instrumental instruction, vocal instruction (taught by Lilly Abreu (vocal recording artist, faculty at Carnegie Mellon University and The University of Pittsburgh), and composition. Campers will experience daily interactive performaces from a wide range of professional musicians in the Pittsburgh area, providing exposure to a variety of music, including the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. The week concludes with a grand finale concert, featuring all camp participants, highlighting the skills acquired and developed throughout the week.
