The Woodlands has fun for all this fall! Coming up Saturday, October 20th The Woodland will host our annual Fall Festival, a celebration of inclusion and family fun open to all abilities, from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.. In addition to spreading awareness about enrichment programs for children and adults with disabilities, Fall Festival provides the opportunity of inclusion for people of all abilities during this community event. “Our adapted activities during The Woodlands’ Fall Festival offer everyone the opportunity to try new activities, develop attitudes and beliefs that support inclusion, and are helpful in forming social relationships and friendships with others,” says Jesse Solomon, Woodlands’ Director of Programs and Marketing. And, regarding the role of inclusion in society, “When recreation programs are truly inclusive, it benefits the entire community and gives our community an opportunity to directly reduce or end the isolation and exclusion that many people still face in their daily lives.”
Fall Festival is a free event and will include field games, zip line rides, indoor swimming at The Wellness Center at The Woodlands, and sensory-friendly activities. Additional activities will include pumpkin painting, a “Not So Scary” Haunted Trail, and trick-or-treating. Family-friendly costumes are encouraged. Guests are welcome to enjoy complimentary food and to participate as judges in The Woodlands’ Staff Chili Cook-Off. Live musical performances will be presented by The Chiodi Trio and The Woodlands’ own Notes from the Heart Music Ensemble.
Our Fall Festival is an open-house event that welcomes potential participants and community members to view the facilities and participate in activities on the campus. Tours of the facility will also be given for those considering registration for future retreats and camps.
